I will be completely honest with you. Getting Botox, or any sort of cosmetic work, never hit my radar because I’m afraid of needles. But stick with me as I explain my first Botox experience, and how EláMar made me feel comfortable throughout the entire process.
I know I said that cosmetic work never really hit my radar. However, getting Botox (or filler) did start to cross my mind when I turned 30, and started noticing more lines that seemed to get deeper around my eyes and in my forehead. I tried to brush them off, telling myself if I used more or better creams or different beauty tips, they would just “go away.” But there they were. Taunting me in the mirror.
Then, EláMar reached out to me and offered for me to stop by their Nashville boutique. I was a little hesitant at first but told myself that I’ll just go for the consultation and see how it goes. Going there doesn’t mean I have to do anything.
First Impressions
When I arrived at EláMar, I was immediately greeted by the wonderful team and their gorgeous space. Everything at the boutique is esthetically pleasing and very calming. The different shades of pink and neutral tones really work well for the space and make it inviting.
I was given a quick tour and then ended up in the treatment room. Katie, EláMar’s Aesthetic Injector, came in and she explained the different treatments offered at the boutique. Then we chatted about some of the areas I was concerned with. I didn’t know what to expect, but I love how she waited for me to tell her what concerned me. Not the other way around. She wasn’t there to point out my “flaws.”
That’s one of the aspects that sticks out to me as well as this sentence on the EláMar website.
Esthetics should be approachable and fun.
About EláMar
We chatted about my forehead and crow’s feet (area to the outside of the eye). We even talked about how Botox is used to help treat migraines and teeth grinding. After the consultation, Katie asked if I was ready to get the treatment today and I told her that I needed to think about it.
The Treatment
Katie left the room and then returned. By that time I came to the conclusion that it was that “now or never.” I told her my decision and she made the preparations for the injections.
To put it short and sweet – I don’t know what I worked myself up about. The whole process lasted about 10-15 minutes. Some of the injections felt like little pinches, but other than that, I didn’t feel much. Kelly, the aesthetic assistant, held a device that vibrated near the injection site to help deviate or “mask” what was going on. She said that it plays a little trick on your mind so you focus on the vibration and not the injection. Let me tell you, it works!
Before & After
Katie said that it would take a couple of days for me to notice any changes and a full two weeks for the Botox to take its full effect. I did notice some changes about three days after the treatment and started to get excited. Then, I went in for my two-week check-up and got to see my before and after pictures. That made me even more excited and after hearing Katie’s input, I became extremely happy with the results.
We did an eyebrow lift, plus softened the lines in my forehead and took care of those pesky crow’s feet. The results should last around 3-4 months and I can’t tell you how happy I am that I decided to give Botox a try. I feel that I truly did this for myself and wasn’t pressured by EláMar or by anyone else.
Referring back to the quote above, I feel my first Botox experience was extremely approachable. Not only in the way that it was administered, but the consultation and even the environment that I received the treatment in made the whole thing wonderful.
