When I say corduroy, what comes to mind? Maybe it’s something only a librarian would wear, or what you remember some of your teachers and hippies wearing, or even something your grandma and mom dressed you in when you were young and forced you to take Christmas card pictures in. I can definitely relate to the last scenario because I’m speaking from personal experience.
I was a little hesitant to start wearing this fabric again but after I tried on these pants from Free People I thought to myself, “Ok, I can rock this trend.” I also heard a little voice in the back of my head, my mom’s voice to be exact, that reminded me that clothes look different on than they do on the hanger. With that being said, I am excited to be sporting this retro fall fashion trend.
If you’re not sure how to wear corduroy – I have a few tips for you. One, if you don’t want to go “full retro” I recommend pairing corduroy with some more contemporary looks and stay away from going total “That 70s Show” with other retro pieces. Two, I also love that these are in one of my go-to Fall Fashion colors (read about why I love burnt orange/rust here). I feel like this color option gives off less of a retro vibe because it’s a trendy fall color. If you just want to dip your toe in the water, a corduroy skirt would be another great piece.
I’ve come across some other corduroy options in pants, jackets, dresses and overalls. If you’re looking to dress like you just walked out of the 70s, I recommend giving these a try.
I also took advantage of the color of these pants and paired it with my bat sweater for Halloween! Anyway to decide to rock corduroy this season, I promise you won’t be wrong!
